1950’s: The St. Clair Story Begins On Mercer Street

As we continue to celebrate our 50th anniversary we’re taking a look back at our roots…

In 1958, the condemned Mercer Street Public School became the Western Ontario Institute of Technology or W.O.I.T.

Portable buildings were added in 1958 and 1962 to accommodate the growing student body.

St. Clair College began transferring programs over to the South Campus in 1967 shortly after it opened.

The last students to occupy the Mercer Street Campus left the building in October, 1971.
